Sports and recreation improves lives. Moreover, sport and recreation transcend the traditional understanding of disability from helpless to hopeful, from dire to possible, from sadness to enjoyment. Participating in a sport helps a person physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally. For people with disabilities, sports have benefits not only during rehabilitation but throughout life. PVA's sports and recreation program promotes a range of activities, with special emphasis on those activities that enhance lifetime health and fitness.

UPCOMING EVENTS
Did you know that there are 21 million Americans with a physical disability? Shockingly, less than 10 percent of them participate in daily physical activity. Nike and U.S. Paralympics want to identify and increase the number of persons with physical disabilities active in sport by making them aware of Paralympic organizations in their community.
