Handcycles weigh up to 40 pounds, and a good cycler will average
15 to 18 miles per hour, with downhill coasting peaking at about
50 mph. Several models are available: most cost between $2,000
and $3,000. If you want to try before you buy, cruise the Abilities
Expos or contact a local rehabilitation center or the VAMC.

is putting on a 2 day Backcountry Bicycling (or Handcycling) Clinic. This
is a training and techniques clinic followed up by some great trail riding
to get to a private remote supported campsite. The next day the ride is traversing
the Reno Divide. |
