Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Department of Veterans Affairs Hosts Business Community Kick-off Breakfast for 2010 National Veterans Wheelchair Games
Denver, Colorado — The Paralyzed Veterans of America Mountain States Chapter (MSCPVA), in conjunction with the national Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Eastern Colorado Health Care System, will welcome Colorado Governor Bill Ritter, Jr., Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, and Congressman Ed Perlmutter as they host a Business Community Kick-off Breakfast for the 2010 National Veterans Wheelchair Games on January 11, 2010 at 7:30 a.m.
Representatives from Colorado’s top 100 companies have been invited to the breakfast, which will include a presentation about the Games by the Paralyzed Veterans of America, and testimonials from both the athletes who have participated in past Games and corporate sponsors of the Games.

“Colorado is extremely proud to host the 30th National Veterans Wheelchair Games--the world's largest annual wheelchair sports competition,” said Gov. Ritter. “These athletes demonstrate what one can accomplish through dedication, perseverance and a competitive spirit. Wheelchair athletes exemplify the very best in all of us.”
The National Veterans Wheelchair Games, taking place in Denver, Colorado from July 4-9, 2010, is the largest annual wheelchair sporting event of its kind in the world. The Games will attract more than 500 veteran athletes to participate in seventeen sports in venues located throughout the Denver metro area. In addition to producing national and world-class champions, the Games provide opportunities for newly disabled veterans to gain sports skills and be exposed to other wheelchair athletes. In past years, one-quarter of the competitors have never before participated in any type of organized wheelchair sports competition.
The Business Community Kick-off Breakfast will allow participants to witness first-hand the beneficial impact of sports competition and wheelchair athletes for veterans throughout the country. Additionally, the Games will showcase Denver and Colorado, as the event, now in its 30th year, takes place in our state for the first time ever.
